The Vivisect Playset is based on an annual group art show, curated by artist Luke Chueh and hosted by Gallery 1988. The show, whose fourth installment is currently running at Gallery 1988's San Francisco location, thematically focuses on the representation of animals that demonstrate the human condition. With the toy series, we have chosen seven of the core artists from the art show, whose designs lend themselves well to plastic. The Vivisect Playset toy series features seven original designs, one by each artist, plus a special collaborative design by Joe Ledbetter and Greg Simkins. Blind/mystery box packaging, with special "chase" figures, too.

Lift will be releasing these at midnight on wed. for those who just can't wait! we will be open 12-1 AM thursday morning.

The French invade in blind boxes on February 21st, with 19 designs (including 2 mystery chase figures), retailing for $6.95.

Huck Gee's Akuma bombs!






It's bombs away as Huck Gee drops the Akuma Bomb. This stunning figure is a 3D realization of the character in his Akuma print from the Danger solo show at Kidrobot LA. This figure will be available in two colorways, red Danger and grey Skully, each piece recoloring around the basic red and grey palette but with a totally unique bomb illustration per style. Both colorways of the Akuma Bomb are limited to just 500 pieces, so don't sleep 'cause this figure is likely to blow up quick!


Bob Dob's Louy!




Luey is one of many minions in Satan's army. Lueys do the devil's dirty work and like to raise hell on their own time. Whatever you do, don't give a Luey milk - they get drunk and belligerent on the stuff.
Luey is a recurring character from LA-based artists Bob Dob. Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, CA, Bob Dob cultivated a taste for adolescent unrest early on, first expressing his talent as guitarist for the punk band Lunacy. Transmutation from music to art was a natural progression for him and he currently shows his works in galleries throughout the U.S. Luey is his first vinyl figure.

Trexi A Better Tomorrow Series : Case of 25 by various
After a 2-month online design contest, Play Imaginative and Coca-Cola have found 15 deserving winners to grace their new trexi series of toys, based on the theme "A Better Tomorrow". These 15 young designers will join 10 other renowned and established designers such as Tokidoki, Cupco, Mad Barbarians and Colorblok. Some of the winners will also see their work featured on Coca-Cola bottles and other extended merchandise from partners including Baleno, Oregon Scientific and o.d.m.

Designers from various parts of the world submitted their work online through a call for submissions, and only the top 15 emerged winners in the global online poll for the best use of expressing their passion for design and for the Coca-Cola brand by using their unique art styles and trexi to portray their vision of "A Better Tomorrow". Entries were judged by a combination of public voting as well as the judges' choices.

Super Jepel, the super slick follow up to the sell-out Steiny release, is the latest vinyl figure from Japanese designer Kaijin. Kaijin's Super Jepel figure comes kitted out with a cool retro workers helmet, and smoking a sly cigarette. Super Jepel is available as an orange colorway, with a limited run of only 200 worldwide (100 outside Japan). It also comes neatly windowed boxed for collectors.

Thursday is a big day for Kozik fans with Kidrobot releasing the new Smorkin' Mongers Menthols series (blind boxed) and the limited edition 10" Bones Labbit Glow In the Dark (1 in 6 is the black chase!).

Kaiju For Grow Ups: Usagi-Gon Clear Green by Frank Kozik
Frank Kozik drops yet another awesome piece into the Kaiju for Grown Ups series - this time with this perfectly sculpted Usagi-Gon piece, which has an original Kaiju-style paint job and brilliant Godzilla like features. The Usagi-Gon is limited to a run of just 100 worldwide.


Fang Wolf: Fang by Touma
Newly designed by Touma and released through Wonderwall, this is the eagerly awaited Fang Wolf 'Blue' figure, sculpted with Touma's trademark 'knuckle bear' style sharp lines and detailing. Touma's Fang Wolf stands approximately 20 cm tall and has fully moveable parts. It also comes neatly blister packaged. The Fang Wolf is definitely one of our favourite designs to come out so far from Touma - very cool!

"Hell's Proprietor is a swarthy bug is management and host to the urban netherworld called Eternah. The overseer to the Land of the Dead. He is quite the pleasant fellow and is fond of the carnivalesque. His main concern is see to it that everybody is comfortable and that all cards are met in this apocalyptic landscape of ruin and amusement."

Glenn Barr's robots, creatures, and vixens live in a seedy yet swinging, 1960s universe, drenched in the haze of a postindustrial hangover. Working out of the burgeoning lowbrow movement in Detroit, Barr creates kinky inner sanctums adorned with disembodied cherubs, morally bankrupt babes, and sizzling femme fatales. Influenced by both pulp art and comics, Barr's work, beautifully sampled in this collection, is the visual equivalent of a David Lynch film. Glenn Barr's work has been seen in various print and television media including Mad, The Ren and Stimpy Show, and Bjork's I Miss You video.

Made out of wood and handpainted with bendy arms.

Word on the "street" is there's a vinyl version of this creature hopefully dropping this year... Oh did I mention it's about 11" tall and SICK!!! Keep an eye out ;)

....and Munny Series 3 with new accessories in White, Black & Glow!

Both will be for sale at the store starting at 11AM on Thursday.

This has been a busy week. Empty boxes, packing material, and tired employees litter the floor. Why? So we can stay fully stocked with the latest in designer vinyl goodness!

Opening Night Success!

Thanks to everyone who helped get the word out about the Detroit Munny Show, all the artists who submitted their artwork and the hundreds of people who crammed into the store last night for the opening night!

Even if you missed last night, you can still check out the exhibit in the store thru 12-3-06. 

Photos will be posted on the official website soon and unsold works will be available for sale online.

We need some help!! (please?)

The Detroit Munny Show is one week away and we would like a little help from our friends.  We want to make this the best urban vinyl show that Michigan has ever seen.

So we are looking for volunteers to help get the word out about the event. 

Some of the things you can do to help: tell your friends, post flyers around town or at your school, post a link/flyer on your myspace page, and of course, COME ON SATURDAY!  We are also looking for a DJ so shoot us a message if you can help.

Monday the 13th is the official deadline to get your Munny to the store for the contest so get busy this weekend, all you procrastinators! We still have a couple Black and Glow-in-the-dark green munnys for sale in the store for $20 if you're extreme last minute!
